Annual Conference Information Print

The West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics is celebrating our 75th anniversary and we hope you will join us for our annual conference, held at the Stonewall Resort, March 17 & 18, 2023. More than 90 sessions focusing across K-12 and college will give you the opportunity to learn, reflect, and network with mathematics educators across the state. Conference registration will open in early February on this website.

The block of rooms at Stonewall Resort is now full.

In lieu of space at the Stonewall Resort, there are multiple hotels off of I-79 in Weston, about 10-15 minutes away from the Stonewall Resort.

This year, we will be joined by noted mathematics education researcher and advocate, Steve Leinwand, as our keynote speaker. The keynote address, along with opening conference remarks, will be held from 8:30-10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 17.

Steve Leinwand is a principal research analyst at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) in Arlington, VA, and has over 40 years of leadership positions in mathematics education. Before joining AIR in 2002, Leinwand spent 22 years as Mathematics Consultant with the Connecticut Department of Education where he was responsible for the development and oversight of a broad statewide program of activities in K-12 mathematics education.

A former President of the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM), Leinwand was the awardee of the 2015 NCSM Glenn Gilbert/Ross Taylor National Leadership Award for outstanding contributions to mathematics education and has been awarded the 2021 NCTM Lifetime Achievement Award.
