Each year, WVCTM has several awards to recognize and support mathematics educators across the state. Consider submitting a nomination and/or application today by clicking the links below!

WVCTM Golden Holtan Classroom Mini-Grant Awards

Each year, WVCTM awards the “Golden Holtan”, a $400 mini-grant for classroom projects named in honor of Dr. Boyd Holtan, a retired mathematics education professor from West Virginia University and a long-time active member of WVCTM.

Applications for a 2026 Golden Holtan are now open. Apply here by December 19.

WVCTM Teacher of the Year Awards

Awards are given to educators at the Elementary, Middle Grades, High School, and College/University levels. We also recognize an Early Career teacher (in the first three years of their career) as well as a Special Education teacher who makes significant contributions in mathematics education. 

To nominate someone for a 2026 Teacher of the Year Award, please submit an application here. Deadline to submit is December 19.

NASA Space Consortium Travel Grant

Through funding from the WV NASA Space Grant Consortium, WVCTM will financially support several pre-service and in-service teachers to enable them to attend its annual conference. Applications should be submitted to Jeanne Finstein by December 1, 2025. More information can be found on the applications below.

Walter E. Regula Teacher-in-Training Grant

Each year, WVCTM awards a $750 grant to an outstanding West Virginia student enrolled in a West Virginia college or university and expecting to graduate by August of 2026. It will be given to a student who is preparing to become a mathematics teacher and who has intentions of teaching in West Virginia.
